Kuler 5: Automation

Kuler5 Automation
The next Kuler 5 is here, and I’m excited to announce the theme and prize for this contest! We’ve had awesome submissions in the past two Kuler 5’s, and I can’t wait to see what you all come up with this time around. The theme is “Automation”, so think crazy super computers, robots, Skynet, and other automated ideas. Remember, the most original, unique, and well done animation wins the grand prize! The prize this time is a super one: Templater by DataClay (valued at $119.99 USD!).

So what are you waiting for? Get started! If you’re unfamiliar with how the Kuler 5 contest works, read this post and the rules below.

Rules

  • Theme: Automation
  • Duration: 5 seconds
  • Must only use colors from an existing Kuler palette or create one
  • Submit by leaving a comment with your Name, Video URL (Vimeo), Kuler palette used, and Website URL

The Prize

First place winner will receive a copy of Templater by DataClay, a robust plugin for After Effects that makes everything dynamic and automatically streamlined.

Control text layers via an external spreadsheet to easily change up and customize various text. Auto translate text dynamically, easily swap out multiple images, footage, and layers on the fly without manually having to dig through the AE project. The great part is, Templater can readjust and re-align items when swapping out stuff, so things line up perfectly as you’d like. You can also bring in dynamic content from virtually any web API, such as Twitter tweets, etc. Templater makes it easy to quickly customize and modify your projects dynamically and intelligently, saving you a ton of time. View all features.

The best part is, DataClay has an exclusive deal for the Dojo community! Use coupon code: KULERTEMPLATER to get 10% off Templater from 11/3 to 11/23! So go grab yourself a copy now and integrate it into your workflow.

I’m very glad to get an opportunity to offer such a beast of a prize to one skilled designer, and cannot wait to see all the submissions! Special thanks to DataClay for making this possible.

Winner

Jyotirmoy Acharyya – Kuler Palette

Congratulations Jyotirmoy Acharyya for winning this Kuler 5 contest! The shading/materials were well done, the mechanical robots were modeled with detail, and the idea was executed well with great pacing and atmosphere.

Thank you everyone for entering, we had a lot of great entries and I can’t wait until the next contest!
